How to Reupholster a Chair
A video tutorial on how to easily reupholster the seat cushion of a chair. An easy way to bring life back to your existing dining chairs or to renew a set of chairs purchased at an antique store or flea market. I had pieces of foam cut to size at a foam shop that were dense and a 1 inch thickness. Glue the foam down to the exisiting seat – you may remove the current seat covers if you like. Allow the glue to dry. Choose a material that is of upholstery durability (you don’t need to spend a lot of money!). Cut your material to the shape to the seats leaving about 6 inches extra on either side. Place your material face down on you working surface, and then the seat with foam face down, on top of your material. Pull up tightly on your material, in the middle and, using a staple gun, place a staple in this middle point. Do this for all four sides. Then, work your way from each side, always pulling up tightly on the material and place your staple almost to each corner. Once all of your side are complete, cut of about 2 inches of excess material from the corners. Gather your corners as tightly as possible and secure with 3 to 4 staples. Complete all 4 corners and you are complete!

Things to Do When Your Depressed and Lonely
Do you wonder what things you can do when your depressed and lonely that will help you to get out of the doldrums or can help you not feel so depressed and alone? Provided that your depression is not serious, there are some simple things that you can do to not only overcome feelings of depression and loneliness, but to add some great habits to your life that will make a real difference in the way you feel all the time. Here are some important things that you can do when your depressed and lonely.
Choose to do Something About It
It’s strange that most of us lament how we feel and simply sit and soak in our frustration and loneliness and do nothing to improve the situation. Oftentimes, people lose themselves in watching tv during their free time or sitting in front of a computer screen, lost in the virtual world. But this will not help with negative feelings. Make a choice to re-arrange how you live your life in small ways and you will suddenly notice that you’re not so depressed or lonely.
Think About Others
What if you chose to quit thinking about yourself for one whole week and looked for ways to help someone else? Maybe your neighbor needs help cutting his grass or that lonely person at the office could use a smile and a listening ear once in a while. Make a choice to get in the habit of doing something for others, no matter how small it is, everyday. Pick up a dropped book, open a door, buy someone’s lunch, send a card or give up your parking space. A habit is developed by doing a certain activity for 28 days in a row, so why not commit to doing something for someone else once a day for 28 days?
Get Active
Do something physical such as deciding to walk everyday even if it’s a short walk around the block. Do some chores that you have put off for a long time. Choose a new hobby that will make you be involved every week at least. This will definitely position you around new people and new environments which may have a secondary benefit by introducing you to someone new.
Make a Weekly Schedule
Create a schedule for yourself that implements all of the above. Don’t allow yourself to sleep until noon on Saturday unless you really need the rest. By scheduling some new activities, you will have something to look forward to every day and will infuse purpose to your every day living.
While it’s normal for everyone to go through times of feeling lonely and depressed for various reasons, it’s not good to stay in this mindset for a long period of time. You can re-ignite interest in life by choosing to do some simple things when your depressed and lonely.

Childrens Book Project Tanzania (part 2)
During my stay in Dar Es Salaam I paid a visit to the main office of the Children’s Book Project. This unique project has achieved many great things and continues to grow. I interviewed CBP Director Lipangala Minzi and went to one of their successful projects, Mwenda Pole Primary School just outside of the city. In many ways this school can be seen as an example for the rest of the country. Have a look! When their day at school is over, these children do not break out their brand-new Game Boy or Xbox. Most fetch water from a well, or milk cows tied up in ramshackle stables─a square of wooden fence─or collect fresh-laid eggs. But others go to the library to borrow picture books. The books are shelved by level of difficulty, and written in Tanzania’s two official languages, English and Kiswahili. Children can even sprawl on the carpeted floor and read in comfort. “We could have set up chairs, as in a classroom,” the librarian explains, “but we preferred to create a more relaxed environment that will encourage children to read.” This relative abundance of material is very rare in the region. It has allowed pupils at Mwenda Pole Primary School continually to improve their grades over the past four years. They can thank the Children’s Book Project (CBP), a Tanzanian NGO devoted to publishing and distributing local literature─a blessing in a country where even history books come from Western countries. In 1997, CBP noticed that boxes of donated books sometimes remained …
